Although there were a lot of events which happened during the course of his school but this one stands remarkably out due to the fact that there was a lot of outsider role involved and I'll try and tell you how.
It was summer time and it was when Mohit was in his 11th standard and his likings towards some girls came to be known to me. The school bus, and people might remember it was a big Blue coloured bus with Mohan Meakins written on it, entered the Mohan Nagar factory compound to drop the kids who used to come to the school from the staff quarters. At that time 3 boys got on to the bus and one of them was an rank outsider who was completely unknown to me, Mohit, Dhruv and all the other folks who would continue their journey to Sahibabad to be eventually dropped. I was standing between 2 rear seats and the three boys starting approaching us. One of them whose name I later got to know was called Ram. He asked me who was Mohit and suddenly I realised something was wrong and I refused that Mohit is not here. The other two boys who were residents of Mohan nagar, one of them was called Ranju, shouted from the behind and identified Mohit. Suddenly the entire scene changed and Mohit, me and Dhruv got cornered stuck inside the 2 rear seats coming under blows from these insiders assisted infiltrators.
What followed took me completely by surprise. Mohit took out a bicycle chain from his school bag and what ensued stung the so called perpetrators. I wouldnt name but one of them got hurt and suddenly Ranju became the interlocutor and proposed to stop the fight and ave a compromise. But by then the driver and conductor of the bus looking at the ferocity of the fight had stopped the bus and we all were taken to the transport manager's, Betu's Papa's office. It was here that Mohit's bicycle chain was snatched and hence the name of the post :-)
Now the one question you might be thinking about and I too asked Mohit was how on earth the cycle chain came into his bag. He told us that he knoew something like this might happen and he was prepared for it by buying a second hand chain from a cycle theek karne waala on the street for Rs 10.
All of this battle was fought since a girl in MN started to get interested in Mohit's friendship and one of the boys was her alleged former BF.
Okay, so at the end of the story I am asking myself what was about Mohit I was hoping to tell folks thru this post?
Well it is the brave instincts which he had and the determination to do things even if it meant going alone else how would you fathom a school kid coming prepared in the school bus with a cycle chain and not telling his bro and his friends that he was expecting some guests.
I have been putting one or the other Mohit's pic in each of my post and I'll do so today too and hope that you all wouldnt relate it to the incident I just posted.
