The Freedom struggle is still on, lest you forget

Not sure though why I chose this title but it seems there have been a lot of times when I have felt that I am not feeling free. We all know and even boast that India got its independence on 15' Aug 1947 and we have been called a free country ever since but what has been the longest period when we have felt free from the dangers of war whether from our neighbours or from within or our within.
Starting right from the tribal attacks in Kashmir in 1948 the having the 61 and 65 war, then the 71 war, the Punjab insurgency and the "very old and recent and never ending" Kashmir insurgency. Not to forget the frequent forgotten squirmishes in between and very recently China walking across our borders and painting the country red. Add to it the Naxalite saga which stil continues to haunt us so badly that when we hear that AP's CM's chopper vanished and we couldnt locate it we start thinking about the naxals in the jungle over which the helicopter was flying and what they would have done had they got hold of the CM.
I am not sure I have been able to ring a bell. Well the intention was not so too. The idea was to start the thought process and not conclude that it is a fact that we are not free. We all are still living under fear, fear of bombs, fear of the designs of our neighbouring country, naxals, insurgents, maoists, religous fanatics and our evil within. So when we are not so free and people who fight for making us forget all these pains and worries should be treated at par with freedom fighters.
We have already lost such a lot of young talented officers like Hrishikesh Ramani, Amit Singh, Mohit Sharma, Vikram Batra and all of the Naiks, Subedars, JCOs, NCOs, Jawans, Officers and even the porters, guides, informers etc who in a way play a part in finishing the menace that the fear, which I wrote an essay on, has caused in our lives.
I'll leave you thinking now and even rubbishing my thoughts with Mohit's pic with the object of his desire, the Royal Enfield Bullet.
